a footnote to something else

an excerpt from an argument I'm having w/ my second reader:

look what I am saying with lability is basically simple and basically stupid:

that the subject is not just always going booooooo qualia I AM SO ALOOOOOOOOOONE because of the Kantian etc problem of qualia and the subject's inability to really know whether "red" is the same "red" for others because it is so TRAPPED IN ITS LONELY SELF THANK GOD THERE IS A GOD a logos to gather up the fragments of the world and transcend my little selfhood and provide the unity of perception that will make it all make sense

what I am saying is that that ^^^^^ might be alienation

and one could even think of this alienation as applying to things that are somehow static--a rose is a rose is a rose
RED RED RED RED RED RED RED
a fucking square that's a fucking square and you can kick it

but what I'm calling lability is about
booo qualia I FEEL LIKE I CAN'T KNOW THOSE THINGS those people anything but my own perspective
OH SHIT IT CHANGED
OH SHIT the rose died

OH SHIT I'M DRINKING ROSEHIP TEA
oh shit I kicked a square
and it broke
and now part of it looks like a circle
and my foot hurts
but I still don't know anything about what could happen
or how to talk about it
or what it could mean for you
or what that rose really is

ode to a minor threat

"Price becomes part of the 'expression' in abstract-expressionist work; there is 'action-pricing'; price is a part of the total 'image' which the painter discovers on the canvas; it is inherent in the Gestalt. Just as Paul Klee's titles became part of the whole painting and were, in fact, inscribed by him on the paper, so action-pricing is as spontaneous an act and as free from rational review as the brushstrokes themselves. David Smith's $50,000 is 'neo-dada'; Kline's $12,780 is 'tachist.' It has been said that a factor in the action-painting explosion of the last fifteen years has been the search for his identity of the sensitive and tragic personality in a more and more homogenized and impersonal world. Action-painting and action-pricing establish identity and with it, inevitably, precedence. Artists are no less competitive than other humans. To have out-priced may mean to have out-painted. Price is part of the pecking order. Criticism may be considered irrelevant and sales a sign of venality. An indifference to both may be asserted by an astronomical price, like Browning's 'By God 'tis good, and if you like it you may.' Price is a part of conspicuous production. It is a big moment in an artist's life when he goes from a four to a five figure price."

shana tova, I guess I'm glad my religion isn't about apocalyptic visions and therefore some aspects of these thought patterns are not inherent to me?

oh oh oh a word

Equivocall seeds and Hermaphroditicall principles, which contain the radicality and power of different formes.
Numerous and strong testimonies like these prove the question.
There is a radicality in this method of dealing with the electrical conditions of the human body which to the logical mind commends itself.
I . . . prefix the Root of such Power to the note of Becoming . . .
one of the evil legion of toryism, after all his radicality.
The apparent radicality of its thesis has proved to be purely verbal.
She was treated as an artist with many styles and no coherent profile, which made it hard for people to understand what she had done.
We shall play one section of you against the other this day, and both sections against the radicality the next.
No influence of the operation can be invoked.

Surgical techniques have developed during the 20th century with a tendency toward increasing radicality in order to deal with those cancers with a propensity for locoregional spread.

for shawn, a little late

When I was twenty-seven and about to spend a summer in New Hampshire, I took lessons from Mike, a young and rather obnoxious Italian American. In 1948, when I was twenty-seven years old, I married Esther Louis and we had five children: Carol, Sarah, Ralph, Glen and Barry. When I was twenty-seven years old, I married a photographer in Vietnam. I had a car accident when I was twenty-seven in which I was nearly killed. I was married when I was very young, but my husband died when I was twenty-seven. I started writing stories when I was twenty-seven, and that made everything better because then I had less time to write in my diary. Then, when I was twenty-seven, ten years after the Boston accident, I had my first experience with "gross painless hematuria"; that is, much blood in the urine with neither pain nor infection. My first book was written when I was twenty-seven, and, as it turned out was successful: but as this of course was not to be foreseen with certainty, ... I foolishly went nowhere when I was twenty-seven. I was chairman of a bank when I was twenty-seven. I decided to be an artist when I was twenty-seven. I received my discharge from the army March 8, 1946 when I was twenty-seven years old and returned home to stay on March 12. When I was twenty-seven, my mother died expressing her regret for not seeing her daughter get married before her death. The thought that continues to guide me today, at the age of sixty-seven, is the same one that guided me when I was twenty-seven. I used to do this when I was twenty-seven. Yes, when I was twenty-seven.
